African Youths Empowerment Movement …..creating mental software for creativity and human productivity

A African Youths Empowerment Movement is a youth organization with a driving force to fine-tuning every creative means to fight unemployment and poverty among Nigerians especially the youths via self reliance campaign, skill acquisition training and leadership training programmes. There is an increasing need for individuals to rise and do something. If only we can be bold enough to face these challenges, though, it may take time, but victory is sure.

With the world focusing on the development of Africa and Nigeria as the heart of Africa, African Youths Empowerment Movement is envisioned to mobilize the youths for the needed change.

Areas of activities:

1.           Unemployment

Unemployment is a threat to the future of youths in this country and the rate at which it is increasing is heart breaking. It is sad seeing millions of Nigerian graduates wasting away on our streets due to joblessness. Considering the number of Nigerian retirees who have served their father land with all their strength, but who are now living in penury, one will agree that it is high time we rise to the challenge.

2.           Leadership

Suffice it to say that the concern being expressed in every quarter about the future of this great country, makes giving the right orientation on issues of leadership to the present crop of youths, imperative as this remains the only way through which the future of our great nation can be secured.
FOOT NOTE; our programmes are resourceful in mental re-orientation towards self reliance and building a positive attitude in business creation and management. Our mission is to provide the mental software for CREATIVITY AND HUMAN PRODUCTIVITY.

THE GREEN LAND PROJECT

The Green land project is designed to take advantage of the rich and enormous natural resources of our land for business and wealth creation.

Our land is Green, our land is fertile, our land is rich in minerals and natural resources, our land is full of talents. We inherited a great Nigeria from our fathers. We can’t afford to be wasting away just like that. The government can’t solve all problems. We want Nigerian youths to come up and take responsibility for their lives.

Under this project, AYEM has organized skill acquisition programme on:

·       Cake baking
·       Snack making
·       Hat making
·       Bead making
·       Computer training
·       Fish farming
·         Poultry keeping
·         Product exhibition

AYEM’s Women Empowerment Training Session
AYEM and her youth development activities also involve a massive public enlightenment programmes both on the Radio and on the Television.

AYEM have also invested in several other seminars like:
1.     Business Mind Training
2.     Post Retirement Business Seminar
3.     Safe Retirement Planning Seminar
4.     Leadership Training Sessions
It has been a long journey of holding on to vision and exercising courage.

OUR NEW PROJECT
AYEM is moving to change the person in individuals. Change is responsive and contagious. If one person changes, he can change ten people. The new found project is the CHANGE INITIATIVE PROJECT.
This project is designed to use the people who have exhibited character and value to impact leadership skill on the youths. This project is tagged: A NIGHT OF 1000 YOUTHS SERIES.

Personalities involved will be branded with the title on each of the series.
This is AYEM.

Hmmmnnn....sundry admonitions for teens

Class rep and assistant class rep turned parents!!!
He was elected as class rep only for him to choose his assistant and something went down between them. She got pregnant for him; came for exams pregnant (hahahahahah) her education turned into ‘’ADULT EDUCATION’’. (Bsc. Physics 2002)

Many beautiful girls turned ugly
She was the dream of virtually all Bsc. Physics boys (when they were in 100 level, but now in 200 level her beauty faded: some say she has farted collecting (??) others say Marcus is responsible for the collecting!!!

The house of boyfriend turned a fellowship ground
A preacher girl who is like “Education and Fellowship is the basis” when approached by guys for her friendship or love, only for her to be seen during late hours in the house of a boy (barely half naked). The question comes “why the house of the boy did turn a fellowship ground?” (Because fellowship do hold in the evening) or is reading best done half naked???

IF YOU THINK YOU HAVE TRIED ENOUGH...!!!

Read my story………..

the wisdom in persistence.
Whenever something BIG is coming, it usually comes slowly.
Have you ever asked yourself why pregnant women had to undergo labour before delivering their baby? Size it is! Examine this; the same opening that gladly absorb the man organ haste fully and with excitement will later find it hell lose to release its product. The difference is size. The smallest baby at delivery point can never be compared with the biggest size of a man’s sexual organ.  The joy of having a child last forever, while the feeling of sexual excitement is only momentary. The size of your destiny is directly proportional to the size of its challenges.

We fail most time in life because we fail to attempt what ordinarily we are capable of doing. FEAR of failure kills our God given abilities. ………..I can do all things! If only you know that you can do that which you have always wished you do. Trust me; you can live your dream.

I don’t have a large dream. But I do know that I have one dream; to have not just enough for me, but for my continent. In terms of wisdom, influence, money and people. This simple dream of mine would not be realized until I believe I have all it takes to make it happen through the divine help and plan of God. I woke up to this reality, and jumped out of my comfort zone long time ago. My parents didn’t like my idea, especially my Father (now of blessed memory). His idea was good but I discovered I was carrying more in me than man could decide. The cold world outside my comfort zone was wicked and full of uncertainties. Rejection, hunger, bad influence, envy, costly mistakes and lots more are the order of the day. I contemplated going back but thinking twice, I had to move on.

My first attempt was to join a brother of mine who was a petrol attendant in a filling station. I begged him to give me fuel to sell as black market. I was in my senior secondary school then and was ready to go. The petrol business worked but I later discovered that my destiny was at risk. I switched to photography (Prince Michael World of Photography). I learnt the work and got a camera. It promises to be nice but soon got bad.

I moved on to GSM business but it failed (Embassy NO. 1). I moved back to my photo trade, changed name (Ever Shining Photo) and strategies. This time, the photo trade worked and then new life started. Along with my photo trade, I teamed up with a friend in House Block making business. Hmmmmm….! It was nice. I added MC (Master of ceremonies). Then I added Radio and TV presentation. After some years, I tried Restaurant business. Year 2004, I started zioni weddings; a wedding planning outfit that I cherish so much. I spent a lot of money in my own size to set it up. But it also did not worked out. I rekindled this concept again last year 2011 with a new name; Bridal firm. I love planning and wish to help people in that regard. I am not tired of trying. All these experiments were on while I was going through my school programmes.

At a point, I checked my life and discovered that what I was getting was not taking me to my dream land. I had some money and knew some people but had no purpose. So I had sit and decide what to do. Then I discovered that vision was missing in my life. For the first time, I felt empty and unfulfilled. So I was advised to try and attend a seminar. I did, and believe me, that was a new beginning. Since then, I have not stopped attending good seminars no matter the cost as long as it’s within my reach.

Once again I started my attempt experiment. At this junction, business already runs in my blood. So it was hard doing free things. But my new attempt then was to start an NGO that will help the youths find their place in life. I hate unemployment and poverty and was das determined to do everything legitimate to help youths get out of it. I started Zional Foundation. Hmmmmmmmm…….! It was not easy. I spoke everywhere at every opportunity for free. I lost all my businesses because I had no time to monitor them again. Yet I was not getting money from my new project. I travelled everywhere seeking for help but all I got was rejections and disappointments. My father was scared for me. Friends, life is wicked!

From Kabba in Kogi State to Ibadan in Oyo State and Ikere in Ekiti State. Yes! Those are states of sojourn. Finally, I once again joined my late father in Abuja; A new beginning so to say. At my arrival to Abuja, I was sure very broke. But that was not the life Mike wants. So I attempted some few things. I tried selling Kulikuli(got a link of its supply from Minna) but it failed. I attempted transporting Yam to my village to sell, that also did not work. I attempted operating a Barbing saloon, it failed. Nawa ooooo! All those around me can tell you more of my attempts. They always think I am too complex and rigid. Some think I feel too big to work or serve people. But few of them are supportive.

Finally, I decided to sell Gari. That became the breakthrough I needed.
I added style to my Gari production and branded it. My Gari (Gari Sioni) became a hit and introduced me to kings and Queens. The Gari is not developed for hungry people but those who derived pleasure in taking Gari. Now things have changed. I picked up my NGO project once more. If you are reading this today, that means the NGO project has succeeded to an extent, because the project is expected to promote this platform.

Of a recent, I also have attempted few things. Forgive me if I am attempting too many things. I have to. My favourite idea is to have a Magazine, I have tried severally but it has not worked. I have tried stating a Block industry and today, the Builders Block is alive. I also have attempted writing a book and today my first title is in the Press. I have attempted creating an online youth development magazine(www.ayemafrica.com). If you are reading this that means the site is already live on the net.

Friends, if you count very well, you will find out that, in my 32 years of living, I have attempted well over Twenty (20) ventures. It has not been easy I must confess, but Mike is a lot better today. Forgive me; I also tried love…..hmmmmmmm…..! I almost lost my destiny on that line of love, but was rewarded with Zion a handsome boy. Trust me, it was hell.
So, how many things have you attempted that you are giving up?

Bethany Meilani Hamilton Inspires...

INSPIRATION
I stumbled on the thrilling story of this lady and I couldn’t help but share this with you. If you think something is dreadful enough to stop you in life, then you need to think again……

Full Name: Bethany Meilani Hamilton
Residence: Hanalei, Kauai, Hawaii
Born: February 8, 1990 (Lihue, Hawaii)
Height: 5’11”
Weight: 140 lbs
Turned Pro: 2007
Parents: Thomas and Cherilyn Hamilton
Brothers: Noah (12/07/1981), Timothy (06/14/1986)

Bethany Hamilton has become a source of inspiration to millions through her story of faith, determination, and hope. Born into a family of surfers on February 8, 1990, on the island of Kauai, Hawaii, Bethany began surfing at a young age. At the age of eight, Bethany entered her first surf competition, the Rell Sun Menehune event on Oahu, where she won both the short and long board divisions. This sparked a love for surf competition within her spirit.
At the age of thirteen, on October 31, 2003, Bethany was attacked by a 14-foot tiger shark while surfing off Kauai’s North Shore. The attack left Bethany with a severed left arm. After losing over 60% of her blood, and making it through several surgeries without infection, Bethany was on her way to recovery with an unbelievably positive attitude. Lifeguards and doctors believe her strong water sense and faith in God helped get her through the traumatic ordeal.
Miraculously, just one month after the attack, Bethany returned to the water to continue pursuing her goal to become a professional surfer.

In January of 2004, Bethany made her return to surf competition; placing 5th in the Open Women’s division of that contest. With no intention of stopping, Bethany continued to enter and excel in competition. Just over a year after the attack she took 1st place in the Explorer Women’s division of the 2005 NSSA National Championships – winning her first National Title.
In 2007, Bethany realized her dream and turned pro. Bethany has since participated in numerous ASP and World Tour Events with her major highlight being a second place finish in the ASP 2009 World Junior Championships.

Since losing her arm, Bethany’s story has been told in hundreds of media outlets and she has been recognized with numerous awards, public appearances, and various speaking engagements.
In October 2004, Bethany shared her life story in her autobiography entitled Soul Surfer. Seven years later, the book was made into a major motion picture bearing the same title which released theatrically in April, and for home entertainment in August, 2011. Other books Bethany has written include “Devotions for the Soul Surfer,” “Rise Above,” A “Soul Surfer” Bible, “Ask Bethany,” and “Clash,” “Burned,” “Storm,” and “Crunch.” Further, Bethany was the inspiration behind Becky Baumgartner’s 2007 documentary entitled Heart of a Soul Surfer.
From a young age, Bethany’s parents instilled their faith in Jesus Christ; and at age 5, she made the decision to have a personal relationship with Him. Bethany’s foundation of faith has been her backbone; her source of truth, hope, and strength.
Out of the water, Bethany has grown from a young teenage girl with aspirations of becoming a professional surfer into a twenty-year old professional surfer with aspirations of becoming a beacon of inspiration and hope. Through the platform of professional sport, Bethany has been able to touch a large number of people with her message, charitable efforts, and overall spirit. Bethany just launched her own foundation, Friends of Bethany, which supports shark attack survivors, traumatic amputees, and serves to inspire others through her life story, and is involved in numerous other charitable efforts.

Bethany’s story is continually growing as she strives to be the best at whatever God calls her to do. The future is truly wide open for this young soul surfer!

END.
I watched her documentary and I must confess, I am yet to recover from the mind blowing inner-will it instills in me. You are the only one that can stop yourself.

Drop your comment please.

Nigerian Grassroot enterprise: The Evans Winnowing invention

Some of us believe in Nigeria. So is the case of this young man, Evans. Our search light reached Evans in his closest and we at ayemafrica wish to identify with him. Evans became a bosom friend to these grass root women who trade in Melon production. Seeing the stress these women pass through, he decided to step in and help them. Evans today has developed locally; machines that help these women process their melon with ease.

Evans calls his machines: Winnowing machine. What this machine does is removing the cover of the melon without destroying the melon inside. The women will later blow the covers away using their trays.

Not satisfy with his invention, Evans went ahead to develop a better machine that will peel and at the same time separate the covers from the melon, thereby relieving the women from further stress. The amazing thing about Evans is that he did not learn this whole. Can’t just place my hand on where the inspiration was coming from.
Things are happening at the grass root but nobody seems caring about anything. Evans can go places if he gain support from either the government or the private sector.
He is lamenting seriously and crying for help. I took photographs with his machines on-site even though he refused coming on the camera.

The untold stories about the UniAbuja accreditation saga: As told by a Medical student

The struggle started way back 7 years ago, when Prof.  Nuhu was the VC and Prof. Otubu the provost of d college of Health Science admitted the first set of students into the program for Medicine without a stone laid for the college. But arrangement were been made to acquire the Specialist Hospital as Unibuja teaching hospital which was accomplished by Nuhu administration, but as a result of the intentions of the cruel provost, the university administration thought all was done to start the program.

But it made issues worst. Still the program was still in progress, the 2nd, 3rd, 4th(which I belong) all been admitted by Nuhu Yakub's administration, and the 5th sets were admitted by Adelabu's administration.

As at the former V.C's regime, the school rented a flat for the college as their Admin block and a Lab in the SON at the teaching hospital. An anatomy Lab was also built there. But during Adelabu's activation as the VC, the rented flat gave a quick notice to leave and Adelabu gave a section of offices within the school.

This started the reveal of the ludicrous situation of d college. Students became frustrated about the saga of professional means of ruining people’s career. The V.C and the college administration under the installation of the new Provost Prof. Asala (a God-fearing man) calmed the students and promised to do something concerning the initiation of projects for the college within the UATH, which the FCDA demolished.

The life-threatening and life engulfing event brought about the first medical student peaceful protest, and Lean On Me exposition. The project was re-channeled back to the permanent site. But still noting heart-cheering was happening until the Fed. Gvt. Through the Ministry of Education intervened as a result of the report, the task force sent to the school and external pressure from resourceful parents.

But the VC still promised us the students and the minister 6 months, which the minister gave a benefit of doubt. The ASUU also intervened by initiating an indefinite strike but was later paused. The NUC committee has been to the school to access the development and the required facilities. From that report a time table has been made to checkmate the processing of the accreditation process; still on the promise that our first set will write their first MBBS exams this year. So, we are hoping with total perseverance and patient; hoping with our last breath.

A complex is under construction in the Permanent site for the college. The intercalated program for the senior set has been wedged for now. ...........................

Who holds the blame………?
