GWAGS MARKET ON DEMOLITION AGAIN!

THE TRAVAIL OF GWAGWALADA MARKET TRADERS!
It began some two years back when Gwagwalada Area Council decided to build an ultra modern market that will showcase the glory of their territory. Unfortunately, poor planning has since messed up the whole exercise.
As of today, hundreds of market men and women have been displaced without any form of commendable relocation arrangement. The proposed new market still in the shadow of its architectural design has no near date of completion. It is thus sad that our government is yet to understand that economic growth without adequate care for the grass root business will only amount to both short and long term failure.
As at the time of filing this report, our agent on ground sent in these pictures as we learnt that demolition is of the market is currently on. Those who bare the pain are the petty traders who daily depend on their sales to feed themselves and their families. We also learnt that the Big man of the market, in person of Alhaji Idris Saleh who single handedly own the largest part of the market soon came to the scene to slow the activity down so that he can arrange for the safety of his goods. What happens to small traders? They all have their goods destroyed by the strong arm of the bulldozer.
As a grass root development and networking organization, ayemafrica sincerely send her heart solidarity to the affected traders even as we pray for a better Naija.
