The controversial former minister of the FCT was detained by operatives of the State Security Services, SSS, following "orders from above", a security source told Olufamous.com. When asked the possible reason for their action the source said "it is complicated".

He told Olufamous.com that the federal government have since put some prominent politicians under watch and that Mallam El-Rufai is among "those on the watch list". Their every movement will henceforth be checked and "scrutinized for links with illegal groups."

When asked the implications of such "watch", the source told Olufamous.com that the precarious security situation in the country called for extra-ordinary measures. "We are not hunting anyone but every body must be ready to corporate for the good of the country".

However, after some security checks, El-Rufai was released. He tweeted again: “Where is your boarding pass? This is your passport. You can go sir...”
